Dental emergency work should never be delayed. Ever!  If you have a persistent toothache, see a dentist before it gets worse. The cause of the toothache could be as simple as a piece of food stuck between teeth but if the toothache has been around for a while and is bothering you it is likely that the cause is something more serious and ignoring it will not fix the problem. In fact it will only allow the problem to grow worse until more serious treatment is required than would have been otherwise. In extreme cases the tooth may have to be pulled and then replaced with a dental restoration. In the end the amount of time and money spent on treating would be significantly more than seeing the dentist when the problem first starts.

        In many cases the speed in which the dental emergency work is done can be a determining factor in the success of treatment. If you accidently knocked out a tooth or even chipped a tooth seeing an emergency dentist immediately is of the upmost importance. If you are in pain, obviously you want to see a dentist as soon as possible but if a tooth that is knocked out is not reimplanted quickly the tooth may not be successfully reimplanted. A chipped tooth can be chipped to varying degrees of severity. If the pulp is exposed you must see a dentist immediately.
